Hi everybody,
Let me introduce myself. I am a late 20-something gal living in the city of Chicago. I am a dog lover at heart. I grew up with rescue dogs my whole childhood. My mom couldn't resist a sad puppy look from an abandoned or abused dog. And so my love grew.....for ABSOLUTELY every dog. It wasn't until December of last year that I actually brought a dog into my own home. His name is Charlie and he is a solid black maltipoo. He looks like a little mini black cub. He is such a LOVER. We are definitely destined to work as a therapy dog! He just loves to cuddle. I give all the "good manners" credit to Laura Torelli's puppy-garten class. I was so blessed with Charlie that I decided to get Charlie a little sister from the same breeder. And this brings me to Karen Pryor's website. Mainly, because I need the clicker [0]+ for the multidog home. But more importantly, I am STRUGGLING with Lucy. She is she EXACT opposite of Charlie. She seems to be fearful of other dogs/humans and she is showing signs of aggression. So with that said, I have purchased the "Click to Calm" book and with my clicker + I hope to be armed for the war :) I will get her with kindness and train her with the clicker based, humane trainging. She's a little bit excited ALL the time. Think "tasmanian puppy" 19 hours a day! But we're going to get there. I think she'll be more likely to do agility thing. But I LOVE the concept of clicker based training. And with this blog I hope to start my journey and story of gentle dog training.
