Waltham, MA, March 2, 2006—Karen Pryor Clickertraining and 1-800-SAVE-A-PET.com have teamed up to benefit shelters and animal adopters. Attendees can earn $25 for their local shelter.
Karen Pryor Clickertraining (KPCT), organizer of ClickerExpo, the highly acclaimed educational conference specifically for animal professionals and pet owners, and 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com, North America's largest nonprofit online pet adoption service, have teamed up to help more pet owners and shelter professionals learn new skills for successful pet adoptions. How? KPCT and 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com are going to pay partner shelters $25 for each individual that attends ClickerExpo in Newport, RI March 31-April 2, 2006!
"Attending ClickerExpo is a perfect way for adopters and shelter managers to learn how to develop a deep, meaningful relationship with their pets, and to manage behavior problems without resorting to any kind of punishment. Training saves lives, which fits in perfectly with our mission statement. We think it's so important for shelter staff, volunteers, and adoptive pet owners to go, we're providing an incentive payment of $25," said Abbie Moore, executive director of 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com.
Karen Pryor, a renowned behavioral biologist, trainer, and pioneer in the field of marker-based reinforcement learning, says that "Every shelter manager or volunteer can make a huge difference in the lives of animals through what they learn at ClickerExpo. Pet owners who learn even the beginnings of the techniques we teach at ClickerExpo will find entirely new ways to deepen their relationship with their pets and discover a positive way to work through all of the challenges that can come with welcoming a new member into their homes."
ClickerExpo takes place March 31-April 2 in Newport, Rhode Island, at the Hyatt Regency. The philosophy behind ClickerExpo is "improving, learning, practicing, and sharing." The conference brings together clicker trainers and positive reinforcement experts from around the world to share their skills and knowledge. Attendees sharpen and improve their training and teaching skills, stay on the leading edge of clicker training techniques and research, socialize with like-minded individuals, and work with the internationally respected ClickerExpo faculty.
Many attendees from past ClickerExpos say that the interactive Expo experience has a huge and positive impact on their training success, their teaching methods, and their relationships with their animals and the world around them.
