A special hell for usually very patient and diligent OC people who fall off the wagon?
My confession:
My friend wanted to go for a walk around the aforementioned (in previous posts) lake. Sarra needed a walk. I suited her up in her easy walk and a leash/collar combo. She has, in the past, pulled herself almost completely out of the easy walk.
/shame
After the third time she lunged at another dog in a completely unprovoked fashion I turned around and took her off the park path and back towards home. Sometime shortly after we hit the sidewalk she decided that pulling me at a breakneck pace into the road would be a good idea. I may have tried something I saw on the Dog Whisperer. It may have worked. (namely placing a leash at the top of the neck, though not super-tightly)
Once we got to a safe place away from the road I did some positive reinforcement with having her jump up onto a 3 foot high ledge, which she was very excited about. She was fine on the rest of the walk.
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa
It would appear however that she still loves me.
My new resolution is to not push things too far. I knew she wasn't ready for such an exercise and I tried it anyway. Realistic expectations and practice, practice, practice is my new plan.
