sterlization/castration of a dog

I have a five-month old Indian desi breed dog that weighs 11 kgs.  Is it essential to get it sterlized/castrated to control its aggresiveness.  If so, at what age it should be done?  And what happens to its sex drive after sterlization? Please advise.
