Clickin' the Pug, vol. 23

Filed in - Frankie - pugs - clicker training - Snow

Well, it's been awhile, huh? We're all alive and well here in NW Oregon, even though we've been home-bound because of snow and ice. But more on that later...

Frankie has been doing well! We only have two more beginner obedience classes left and I'm looking forward to moving up to the next level. We've learned all the required behaviors so far, and I'm hankering for something a bit more challenging. The required behaviors are...sit, down, sit-stay, down-stay, come, take it, leave it, drop it, loose leash walking, sitting to greet strangers, sitting to greet other dogs (Frankie could still use some more work on this one), and shake (better known to us as 'gimme five'). We've finished the 'bang' trick, and we're also learning 'turn' (which is simply a spin, but I thought Frankie would get confused since spin sounds a lot like sit). Eventually, when 'turn' is finished, I'll teach her 'other way', in which she would just turn the opposite way around. Of course we don't have to know that for class. :)

Here's a video of the finished 'bang' trick. Note the impressive addition of a leg twitch at the end, just for good measure...lol!

Here's a YouTube link for those that can't see the previous one...

In other news...SNOW!! Tuesday morning it started snowing and we ended up with about 4 inches. Of course, the whole Willamette Valley goes into panic mode and everything is closed. Hubby, daugher and I have been home-bound, but we're coping ok. I don't mind missing a few days of work, but my pocketbook is sure going to be a bit tight for the next few weeks! No work-ey, no money, unfortunately. Hopefully it won't freeze again tonight and we'll be out and about tomorrow.

That's all for now!
