The Road Thus Far...

Filed in - training - obedience - Labrador

Coming off a high of our first AKC Novice A showing two weeks ago, we showed this past weekend at the local correction clinic. Kay surprised me with a 193 and a 2nd place - missing first by a half point - at the trial two weeks ago. We showed in the Open class at the correction clinic and she was on fire! She nailed everything I asked for and looked like she was enjoying it!! I know I've made some people mad by being so young and doing so well, but they don't know what their missing when harnessing the power of the clicker

We have a few rough spots to clean up - namely the broad jump front and the left side of the figure 8 - but we are in great shape. She nailed the sits and downs. First time in a group and first time doing it straight through no reinforcement breaks. I was so proud!

We're heading out to see Marsha Smith in June and I'm jazzed! I need to make sure I polish up my routine a bit cuz I will surely be nervous! Marsha is huge! Who else has OTCHed a Chinese Crested?!?!?!

So finally, our hunt training is coming along. With my boyfriend as my dutifull bird boy we are at 15-20yds. Not bad for a complete novice! I was hoping to get more distance, but with kids playing baseball 50ft away it was difficult. I hope to head out to the field soon!
