Although I am not a professional photographer, I am occasionally called upon to take pictures at horse shows at the facility where I board my two mares. The season has just started up again, and it is fun to see our old friends come in after the long winter. A nice horse was being unloaded and was neighing like crazy, looking around at the commotion and clearly wanted out of there - NOW!! I walked by and the gelding smelled me (or rather the treats in my pocket). I was talking to his owner when she remarked - look at him looking at you! His ears were up and he was as calm as could be. Turns out I had to take his picture the summer before, and had given him some clicker training in "putting up his ears and smiling!" He smelled the treat pocket, remembered the lesson, and smiled for all he was worth. Of course I clicked and gave him a jackpot. After that he was good to be led into the barn to his stall and did pretty well at the show.
I don't have a fancy camera or anything, but I can get my subjects to strike a pose so cute that my lame 2.2 megapixels look like glossy 10X10s! A pocket full of treats can bring a smile, get the picture and calm your 4 legged friend all in one click!
