Well, my opening blog.
I'm just coming off the clicker expo and WOW! I am inspired. I was re-energized to click with my dogs and have begun working on a couple of new behaviors AND honing a couple of old ones. We're also working on not being reactive to other dogs. That, in just a few short days, believe it or not has come SOOOO far.
About me: I have two dogs (both naughty and terrible and I couldn't love them more) Cash, a 5-7 y/o malamute mix and LT a 3.5 y/o little black spaniely thing.I started clicking about 3 years ago. Self taught.
I am 24 and I am an Animal Care Specialist at a wonderful shelter in southern California. It is my career. I have a useless degree in English. :D I was lucky enough for my shelter to send me to Expo to get my shelter clicking.
That is what this blog will *mostly* be about: Clicking the shelter. Our shelter is hopefully going to become a clicking shelter. I'm going to be teaching a couple of clicker classes this month so I'm really excited and nervous.
I want for people to see what kind of communication happens when your dog starts feeling like you understand him. I want my shelter dogs to have that relationship with the staff, volunteers and hopefully their new owners.
I just can't wait.
