The dogs and I are on summer vacation. We have one week at Lake Anna in Virginia to let loose, relax, and enjoy ourselves. We have a place on the lake, which is nice -- especially with Labradors -- because all we have to do is open the door and they're right there, in the water.
Usually, the dogs aren't allowed off-leash if they're not fenced it. With these dogs, I think a herd of deer could be milling about and the dogs would be only annoyed -- because the deer were in the path to the lake!
We haven't done any training yet, but I plan on it. The dogs get so excited at the water, it's a great place to work on the very basics. Tango (yellow Lab) finds it exceedingly difficult to sit while I hold the bumper on the dock. All he's concentrating on is when he can jump off the dock to retrieve it. So we may not work on anything new, we'll get the dogs more fluent in their basic behaviors during exciting conditions.
Happy Summer!
