Ok. So it's been a few days since my first entry. It's a beautiful day here in Chicago, sunny and 70's. It's the perfect day for sitting outside with Lucy and letting passersby offer her treats and her kibble from lunch. We were out for about a half hour and I think it was a success! We met maybe 4 or five people that were interested in trying to offer Lucy some treats while coming in "low and slow". She was receptive to about 75 percent! Yay!!! She still barks at passersby, especially when they continue to walk on by. (Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop her barking in those situations? I've tried offering toys and even calling to get her attention for a treat, but once she starts it's hard to stop until that person is out of her sight.) But more than that, she was surrounded by people sitting at some tables outside of a popular coffeehouse. She is on her way to becoming socialized with people. I have plans to do this 1-2 times a day until we "catch up". I will update my blogs as days pass on.
Enjoy the weekend dog walks, everyone!
