Tank and I finished our novice obedience class last night. Rather, they LET us finish our class last night. Tank is still reactive, though only at a 3-4 ft. boundry. This club would rather he not be reactive at all, and consider him a liability. If he weren't a 140lb Saint Bernard, I dont' think it be an issue. Regardless, we scored a 138 1/2 of 200 points. After 3 attempts he didn't do his long sit, if we had we'd pass with 178 1/2 points. This is completely mute to the self DQ for using a head collar "for safety."
When we finished and received our scores, I was encouraged to look into other methods to help with his reactivity. To read up more on traditional methods. This may not be the right place for us. So we will go somewhere different, where we have more support.
Despite all that we'd been through, I was very pleased with what we accomplished.
