Practising re-orientation skills in pet store

Filed in - watch me - attention

Our next test was to observe how hard it was to re-orient Tyler in a pet store when approaching dogs and  cats.

Approaching dogs in another room with glass partition between us and the other dogs -  no problem.  Tyler was able to refocus and look at me when I said "Tyler watch me"

Sitting and watching another dog walk down the aisle - no problem as long as the other dog was at least 6 feet away

Sitting while another dog walked past us - was hard to refocus Tyler on me.  However if the other dog was a guide dog than Tyler just watched him and turned to me when I said "Tyler watch me"  I think the other dog's behaviour influences Tyler's reaction

Apporaching cats in another room with glass partition between us and the cats - Tyler had trouble focusing on me when I said "Tyler watch me"  He just couldn't take his eyes off the cats.  He sat there very nicely but definatly wanted to keep an eye on those cats :)
