Yellow Lab knows when dinner is over, cues Humans to walk her....

Filed in

Our yellow lab is very well behaved and sits quitely during dinner.  She doesn't get food from the table, or even much attention while we eat so I get the feeling she's decided that there's 'no percentage' in interacting with us while we eat.

Lately we've been spending more time 'just sitting' and talking after dinner.  The last few days we've noticed that our dog starts pacing and verbalizing while we are in this 'talking' stage.  It's as if she knows that we are done eating and just 'wasting time' until she gets her walk and dinner combo.  She doesn't bark, but she's always made a lot of varied vocal noices and we get quite an after dinner concert.

It seems sort of 'cute' to us humans.  How does she know that the eating part of the meal is over?
