Hi all! It was a decent day yesterday, so Frankie and I headed outside for some training. I decided to work on 'sit', 'down', and 'stay'.....and what the heck, try some 'comes' too. We went to a quiet, mostly fenced area of the park across from our neighborhood and I let her off the leash (shhh, don't tell anyone!). I had her do some 'sits' and 'downs' to get warmed up, then I had her follow me out to the middle of the area and had her do a 'sit/stay'. Then I walked half way across the area and told her to 'come'. She did great! There were a few times where she started the 'come' too soon, but only about 2 times out of 10. I got pretty far across the area, too. I'm so impressed with her!
In our evening session we started working on 'speak'. I had taught her this before, but we hadn't worked on this in awhile. It's funny, it takes her a couple times to actually get a sound out, so eventually I want to teach her 'whisper', too. For the remaining session we worked on 'freeze'.
In other news, it's cold and blustery! I about got my umbrella turned inside out while taking Frankie outside this morning! Frankie was not amused at having to go outside, either. She followed, but grudgingly. I really should work on teaching her to go on command, but I don't think I want to tackle it during this kind of weather. Plus, she's very picky about where she goes potty. From what I hear, most pugs are like this. She prefers tall grass, a pile of leaves, or a branch with leaves on the ground. She'll sniff and sniff and circle and circle until you think she's found her spot, then she'll change her mind and start the sniffing and circling all over again. Funny little dog.
That's all for now!
