I worked with Spree on hand targeting last night. She was awesome!
I used hot dogs and had a high reinforcement rate. At first, she just had to stretch her head out to touch my hand. Then, after about 5 clicks, she had to move a step or two. Every once in a while, we increased criteria-she had to follow me, she turned, she bent her head down, she put her head up, etc.
By the end of the session, she "clicked" with what she was supposed to do. She has now mastered her first trick..."Hand!"
Now on to free-stacking...
