Clicker Training on the Run

Many of us lead busy lives and there seems to be a perpetual shortage of time. That makes it easy for me to choose a topic to write about this month: How do you train your dog when you simply have no time?

I had the good fortune of growing up on a 500-acre farm in Greenwood, a small town in western New York State. That's where it all started. It was a modest, old-fashioned dairy farm and all the milking was done by hand, twice a day. Besides the milk cows we had beef cattle, a few horses, up to 140 pigs, turkeys, 30,000 chickens, a herd of cats, and a pack of dogs. I loved it. I wanted to become a vet.

Chasing Squirrels

In April of this year there was a discussion on the ClickerExpo Yahoo Group e-mail list about squirrel chasing. It became a hot topic, generating many opinions and replies. I responded to the ruckus with this post.

Congratulations to the Canis Film Festival Winners!

Laura VanArendonk Baugh won Grand Prize at the first-ever Canis Film Festival, a contest designed to showcase innovative animal-training videos. This unique festival focuses on short films of seven minutes or fewer that educate animal owners and professionals about the power of training based on the science of operant conditioning.

Advanced Trainers Find Depth at ClickerExpo

Every year at ClickerExpo we save a few spaces for special guests: distinguished trainers, scientists, or leaders in other fields. This year one of our honored guests was Sue Ailsby, a very well known clicker trainer and teacher from Canada. I'd like to share with you one of Sue's posts to the ClickerExpo list after ClickerExpo Los Angeles.
