What a change. In a year my 4 year old dog has gone from getting seconds in the conformation ring to getting two firsts and a CK (certificate quality) - ok chesapeakes mature late, and it is only in the last year that her chest and shoulders has set themselves. But I am convinced that the clicked stack and gait we have trained has made a difference too. She presents herself like a star. One of the most experienced handlers/breeders in my neck of the woods even commented to me that "that is really looking good" My husband told me that people at ringside had been commenting too - particularly at her nice stack. At the fieldtrial the same weekend the judge commented several times on the good contact we had, he even put that in the official statement. So even though we only got a third - not the dog to blame - it was good times. And to think I only went from lure-reward to clicker less than a year ago. I feel like I am at the first steps of a journey... my 5 months old pup is and will be clicker all the way. She is already miles ahead at the (traditional) puppy class we attend. And she showed off in the conformation ring (same show as told about above) as if she was a champ - even though it was her first show ever, after two days in a novel place and with tons of stranger dogs and people around. Became best baby pup too...

Yay for clicker
Yay for clicker conformation :)
I know a pair of chocolate labs (a mom and daughter) who are showing right now & taking private conformation lessons with my mentor trainer. It truly makes a difference--you can click the best gait and exstinguish the pacing and have the dog stack herself! Their owner talks about how all the other handlers have commented on her dogs' gaiting and nice manners and then laugh when she tells them she used FOOD--because of course, hunting dogs need to handled with force. Ugh.
Good for you!!
