The cutest thing happened yesterday.
I decided to do a little free-search training with Saga (8 months old)
I put her in sit-stay and threw 8 dummies around in front of her.
She didn't budge a muscle, which was very satisfactory indeed.
Went back to her, good doog'ed her a bit and sent her out to search. After the first few dummies she started to either get a bit confused, or else she was loosing interest. So I did what we usually do - ran out in the field with her, jollying her up, when she found a dummy I shouted good girl and started to run back to the starting line.
The question of the day: which is fastest: a young chesapeake with a dummy in her mouth or a 30 something handler in wooden clogs (stupid idea to wear those) when running over an uneven meadow?
Yes, the dog.
When she reached the starting line she stopped and sort of looked around "hey where is mum? what am I supposed to do with this thing now?" Then she looked down at the dummy bag, which were open after I had stuffed the first dummies in. "Oh, that's where she want these thing to go! - I can do that" And she put the dummy into the bag! She didn't just let go and dump it - no, she literally stuffed it inthere.
Needless to say I am still ROFL at the thought. I wonder what a Field trial judge would have said....

Wow!
Brilliant! Clever girl!
Does she do housework? That would be my next training task...!
Laura &
hmm....housework
that dishcloth she ate... perhaps she was trying to wipe the kitchen counter with it??
hehe
yes, they do the darnest´ things
I now wonder if I could teach her to put the dummies out on the field herself, then I would be redundant and could stay on the couch while she train herself...
