I know at this age puppies will nip and bite at you although I would like to stop this habbit before it becomes too much. I have tried saying "ouch!" loudly and pulling my hand away but he doesn't respond. Anyone have any methods on training them to stop?
Some tips
When your puppy bites your hand put your hand in a fist with your thumb tucked in and hold your hand very still. While doing this say in a firm tone 'enough'. This will eventually be the cue to tell the dog you are done playing. Shortly after putting your hands in a fist, the puppy should loose interest because you are no longer any fun. However, if your dog continues to bite your hand and is knawing instead of simply play biting, your puppy is most likely teething. Replace your hand with an appropriate chew toy, click, and reward with a treat for chewing on that instead of your hand.
I hope that makes sense. Good luck!
