The Gilsdorfs note that some folks believe teaching tricks to cats is unnatural or should be limited to circus animals.
But Sue finds that training increases her rapport with the pets and offers them needed stimulation.
"They'd be couch potatoes if I didn't do this," she says.
As I discovered when clicker training my cat, clicking offers a fantastic opportunity to enrich the lives of your pets. Domestic cats are often taken for granted when training is concerned because they naturally understand most management behaviors, like potty training and bathing, without need for training. However, they can exhibit amazing skill, even compete in agility, if given the chance. But more than that, their entire affects can change; the mental and physical stimulation improves their quality of life.
