It's a Long, Hard road ahead

Filed in - shelter - abused - apartment

I adopted Benny, nee Jenson, nee Mardi Gras out of a local shelter near my home in New York. He is a mixed Border Collie, brought up from Louisiana as a Hurricane Katrina rescue dog. Having had a Shetland Sheepdog for nine years before and a lovable mixed breed for 13 years before that, I knew that he would need a lot of walks and excercise. And I did go into this with full knowledge that a rescue dog from an over-crowded shelter would need a lot of love and patience.

long and hard road but worth it

Adopting a dog is one of the best things you can do. It is a long road though when you do recive other peoples dogs without knowing where they've been and what they have been through. But dogs adapt easier than us. And im sure with some love, patince and training on your part you will have a great companion.
all the best
