Filed in - Events - Dogs

As the ClickerExpo conference in Norfolk, VA, approaches, we’re highlighting each of our Taste of ClickerExpo live broadcast partners, and sharing exciting news about them!

Compassionate Canines, Incorporated, is an Appleton, Wisconsin-based nonprofit organization formed in 2009 and comprised of more than 70 registered therapy dogs and their owners. These valuable volunteers generously give of their time by visiting people of all ages in a variety of settings. With their therapy dogs, they offer love, comfort, support, and animal companionship. Therapy dog teams visit and support those battling mental illness (inpatient state mental health facilities), people facing a terminal illness (hospice), college students dealing with homesickness (visits to college campuses), young children struggling to read aloud confidently (school and library-based reading programs), and children dealing with the loss of a loved one (grief camp support).

Thanks to a grant received recently from Planet Dog Foundation, Compassionate Canines will host the first ever state-wide Therapy Dog Volunteer Conference on Saturday, September 13, 2014, in Appleton, Wisconsin. This day-long conference will feature a variety of educational topics relevant to all therapy dog volunteers regardless of the setting in which they visit. Attendance is expected to top more than 100 volunteers! For more information about Compassionate Canines, Incorporated, please visit http://www.compassionatecanines.org.
