I found the KPCT site
I found the KPCT site because a friend of mine was working for you guys at some Clicker Expos, and I wanted to learn more. I keep returning because I still want to learn more.

I saw an article in the San Jose Mercury News
It was about Karen Pryor and I searched on her to find more. The article interested me because I recently took in a young, stray cat, and she is terrorizing my two senior cats. She thinks the Maine Coon's tail is a toy, and since the Manx has no tail, she thinks the entire cat is stalking bait. It is clear Hissy is playing, not attacking, because she is gentle and often even stops short of contact, but Princess and Kiki don't like it and they fight for real on the occasions when they do get irritated enough to respond.
Originally I made Hissy stay outside, but after the $330 surgery bill (the vet thinks she was on the losing side of a cat fight) I decided she had to stay inside like the other cats. Now it is obvious that she has rotten manners. No wonder she got beat up with multiple infected deep wounds; she probably deserved it.
I play with her as much as I can and she also has self-play toys, which has helped, but it is not enough.
I think I can train her (haven't gotten the kit yet), and sure hope so, because she is a wonderful personality but it is not fair to the older cats to keep her if she doesn't learn some basic kitty manners.
I joined to learn more
A couple of years ago I was at a seminar where a clickertrainer showed us the technique. She also made the mistake of saying - quite clearly that all that were not clickertraining were abusive. I was doing lure-reward, a used a no-reward maker (no) too, As she was adamant that this was a traumatic experience for my happy loving dog, she made me very defensive, and I decided that clickertrainers were closed minded and sitting on high horses... lol
But being educated in science I felt redrawn toward the idea, and reading Don't shoot the dog made me entusiastic... Then I went here, and found that clickertrainers are not closed minded and arrogant... to make a longish story just a bit shorter I got touched by the fire too. I tried clicking and now both me and my dog are hooked. One of these next few days my next puppy will be born, she will be clickertrained from the day we bring her home.
BTW my dogs are gundogs, and even pre-clicker they were trained to high working and field trial levels without forchfetching, e-collars or the like. I am looking forward to seeing what results the clicker will give me, compared to using my voice.
Thank you Karen et al

I joined as I use clicker
I joined as I use clicker for my aggressive dog and in doing so it saved her life.
I clicker my cat as she is a rescue and loves it.
I like to keep as up to date on new clicker stuff.
It is the one place I can come and not get harassed as I do not train the alpha way.
