Less is more when it comes to training treats! In this excerpt from her new book From Birdbrained to Brilliant: Training the Sporting Dog to be a Great Companion, Dawn Antoniak-Mitchell explains how to select the perfect size treat.
"A treat should simply be a taste of something special, not an entire meal in every bite! A treat should only be the size of the tip of your little finger or a green pea. You dog should be able to eat it in a second or two, with little, if any, chewing required. By keeping the treat size small, you'll be able to train longer before your dog gets bored with the treat or actually gets physically full."
